We are looking, to start as soon as possible, for our location in Mannheim or Cologne, for the department Knowledge Exchange & Outreach (KEO), Training Team, for a
 
PostDoc for the Development of Training in Empirical Social Research Methods 
(Salary group 13 TV-L, 100% full-time position, initially limited to 4 years)
 

The task of the department  „Knowledge Exchange and Outreach” is to continuously develop and optimize the broad range of services and concepts to effectively transfer research findings and survey methods know-how to the scientific community and to the society.

As part of the department, the Training Team develops and organizes training events in social science research methods at the GESIS locations in Cologne and Mannheim as well as in virtual formats. Our training events are attended by more than 1,000 participants per year.

Your tasks will be:

  • Planning and scientific coordination of training events (e.g., topic selection, recruitment of lecturers, conceptual development, advising participants)
  • Contributing to the overall tasks of the team, e.g., program development, evaluations, e-learning, and marketing
  • Research and academic publishing in the field of methods of empirical social research or in one of our research areas (30% of your working time)

Your profile:

  • Master's degree and a completed or well-advanced (max. 6 months to completion) relevant PhD in a social science discipline or a related field
  • Excellent knowledge of quantitative methods of empirical social research, preferably with specialization in one or more of our core topics: data analysis, data quality, survey methodology, computational social science, or research data management
  • Good networks within the national and international methods-oriented research community
  • Experience with developing innovative courses, including digital formats, is desired
  • High level of German and English language proficiency in spoken and written form
