Starting from the next possible date, our Department Knowledge Technologies for the Social Sciences (KTS), Team FAIR Data, located in Cologne, is looking for three
 
Student Research Assistants
(13,98 € / 14,87 € hourly rate, 10 hrs./ week, temporary)
 
The department Knowledge Technologies for Social Sciences (KTS) conducts research at the intersection of information retrieval, natural language processing, semantic technologies, and human information interaction as a foundation for innovative web portals and platforms for the search and use of research data. In the context of consortia NFDI4DataScience of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI), KTS develops innovative services with the goal of improving the integration, search, and reusability of research data for data science and artificial intelligence. In this context, we are looking for student assistants for annotation work to support a shared task on information extraction from scientific publications, under NFDI4DataScience.

Your tasks will be:

  • Annotating scientific papers for named entity recognition (NER) and relation extraction (RE) tasks, following the annotation guidelines.
  • Assisting with shared task organizational activities, including platform maintenance and participant communication.
  • Contributing to the construction of gold-standard annotations for scholarly entity mentions (machine learning model, dataset and task mentions, etc.) from computer science research publications, to support a shared task on information extraction.

Your profile:

  • Master student in computer science, data science, information science or related fields. 
  • Good knowledge of machine learning in NLP, CV and other related fields.
  • Experience in computer science research publication reading.
  • Professional command of English.
