Survey Specialist for the FReDA Children and Youth Survey, specializing in Questionnaire Development
(Salary group 11 TV-L, working time 100 %, limited until 31.12.2029)
 

Monitoring current social developments is a primary objective of the social sciences. The department Data and Research on Society supports the social sciences in this task, by providing comprehensive data and tools to describe and analyse social changes. In close cooperation with the Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB), we conduct FReDA – a data infrastructure for family research. FReDA is designed as a panel survey of anchor persons and their partners in self-administered modes. The BiB/FReDA study “Refugees from Ukraine in Germany” is also conducted as part of FReDA. Starting in 2026, children of anchor persons aged 11 to 17 will also be surveyed in German, Ukrainian, and Russian.

Your tasks will be:

  • Implementation of the FReDA Children and Youth Survey (esp. questionnaire development and programming, preparation of data collection and translation processes, data preparation esp. generating preloads)Supporting the project team in implementing the FReDA panel
  • Assisting in the preparation of project and method reports 
  • Coordination with service providers, translators, and national project partners

Your profile:

  • Excellent university degree (B.A.) in the social sciences (e.g., sociology, political sciences, psychology), or a comparable vocational training with excellent degree and several years of professional experience
  • Relevant experience with planning and conducting surveys
  • Experience with child and youth surveys and/or multilingual surveys is an advantage
  • Experience with data preparation and analyses of survey data using relevant statistical software (e.g., Stata or R) is an advantage
  • Very good knowledge of German and English (spoken and written), knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian is an advantage
